The victories in November count almost as much as the wins in March. So do the losses. A little less than four months from now, when the Temple men’s basketball team is counting wins and calculating its RPI as it tries to earn a bid to the NCAA Tournament for the third straight year, it might rue the one that got away on Tuesday afternoon.   Full Story

Joining a team in midseason isn’t easy. Joining a team in midseason, while moving from one country to another and adjusting to college life, would qualify as a remarkably difficult transition. Juan Fernandez pulled off the change with the Temple basketball team last year, joining the rotation in the second semester and becoming the Owls’ best playmaker.   Full Story

Craig Williams won’t be 100 percent when the Temple men’s basketball team opens up the 2009-2010 campaign at Delaware Saturday. But he will be well enough to play. The 6-9 forward suffered a dislocated right kneecap in an offseason practice session in April.   Full Story

It’s fair to say 2008-09 was an unorthodox recruiting year for the Temple Owls. They inked two players during the early signing period, didn’t add anyone in the spring, then signed two more players in August. Last week, OwlsDaily.com talked with Coach Fran Dunphy about this year’s class, the plans for next year, and the recruiting results from his first three years at Temple.   Full Story

Dionte Christmas scored over 2,000 points in his Temple career. Nearly 1,000 of those points came on 319 three-pointers, including 107 treys a year ago. The loss of Christmas’ shooting ability may be impossible to replace, but 6-6 forward Andrew “Scootie” Randall is hoping to do his part.   Full Story

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ -- Dionte Christmas scored 29 points as Temple spoiled Duquesne’s first Atlantic 10 Championship final appearance since 1981 with a 69-64 win. The win, which secured the Owls’ second consecutive Championship title, prevented the Dukes from earning their first NCAA tournament bid since 1977.   Full Story

Among all the possible postgame angles, I never thought I would be writing about the officiating after Temple’s NCAA Tournament first round game against Arizona State on Friday. But the whistle-happy stripes helped secure the result as much as the slightly-rattled Sun Devils, who missed enough free throws to lose the game, if only they hadn’t gotten so many attempts.   Full Story

Longtime Temple fans might be confused about who they’re cheering for in Friday’s NCAA Tournament game between the Owls and Arizona State. One team will play a matchup zone defense, and its offense will feature a supremely-talented wing guard. The other team will play man-to-man, with an offense featuring an array of capable shooters. Guess who's who?   Full Story

Getting into the NCAA tournament is an exciting achievement, but the euphoria of that feat can be dampened if a team is “backing” its way into the Big Dance. Judging but its last four games, Arizona State should be free of those apprehensions. The Sun Devils are arguably playing at their highest level of the season, and that should bode well for them as they start play Friday against Temple.   Full Story
