Carolina On Her Mind

Dawn Staley has accepted the head coaching job at South Carolina, sources reported to OwlsDaily.com on Tuesday night. The Philadelphia native is leaving Temple after eight years as its women’s basketball coach.

Staley will be introduced as South Carolina’s new head coach by the end of this week. She replaces Susan Walvius, who resigned from the position last month.

During her tenure on North Broad Street, Staley led the Owls to six NCAA Tournament appearances. Last spring, she signed a six-year contract extension that made her one of the 20 highest-paid coaches in women’s basketball. But the opportunity to coach in the SEC was clearly too good to pass up.
