Offensive coordinator George DeLeone is leaving Temple to join the Miami Dolphins coaching staff, according to a source. DeLeone tutored the Owls’ offensive line this past season, after coaching the quarterbacks in 2006. His position with the Dolphins has not been announced. DeLeone has accepted a multi-year, multi-million dollar deal to join rookie head coach Tony Sparano with the Dolphins, who limped to a 1-15 finish this past season. The Dolphins fired head coach Cam Cameron. In Miami, DeLeone will be reunited with longtime Syracuse coaching colleague Paul Pasqualoni, who was recently hired as the team’s defensive coordinator. That’s just one of several interesting connections from Temple’s perspective. The Dolphins have hired former Temple great Todd Bowles as their defensive backs coach. Also, former UCLA head coach Karl Dorrell has been hired as Miami’s wide receivers coach. Temple Coach Al Golden interviewed at UCLA following Dorrell’s dismissal. According to a source, Golden is planning to promote one of his current staff members to the offensive coordinator job. |
