Chalk up two more verbal commitments for the Temple football program. OwlsDaily.com confirmed on Thursday that the Owls have received commitments from 5-11, 185-pound quarterback Clem Johnson of Valley Forge (Pa.) Junior College and 6-0, 180-pound running back Malcolm Williams of Reading (Pa.) High School. Both players have been recruited as multi-purpose athletes.
Johnson is originally from Carlisle, Pa., and graduated from Carlisle High School in 2006. He was an all-state pick as a senior in 2005 and started at free safety in last year’s Big 33 Game. At Valley Forge, Johnson was named the Seaboard Conference Offensive Player of the Year as a freshman last season.
Williams is a bit of a sleeper, as he missed the last four games of his junior year due to injury. Reading finished 2-8. Williams attended Temple’s one-day camp this past weekend and jumped at a scholarship offer from the Owls.
Coach Al Golden has now secured five verbal commitments for the 2008 recruiting season, including three in the past three days.
