Gateway DB Lands "Big" Offer
Monroeville (PA) Gateway has a stacked roster once again, and the 2014 class is especially loaded with Division-I prospects, including cornerback Anthony Davis. During an unofficial visit to Penn State Saturday, Davis learned he would be leaving with an offer from Nittany Lion head coach Bill O'Brien. "I was offered by Penn State today, and it was a very exciting day for me," Davis stated. "After going on a tour of the campus, my father and I met with Coach (Bill) O'Brien in his office. He said he was offering me a scholarship, and I couldn't stop smiling. I can definitely see myself playing there some day." "It felt great, because it's my first Big Ten offer, and because it was from Penn State," he added. "I loved being at the school and my father felt the same way. Coach O'Brien kept stressing education over football, and that really impressed my dad a lot. We both felt very comfortable at Penn State, and liked everything about it." Davis already holds an impressive offer list, and with the offer, Penn State is now in his top three list of favorite schools. "This is the first time being at Penn State, and they are definitely in my top-three," he explained. "In no order, my favorite schools would be Penn State, West Virginia and Temple. I'm probably going to make my decision before my season starts, but I'm not sure of that. I don't have any visits scheduled in the near future, but something could be scheduled in the next month." The Penn State offer is number-nine for Davis, including offers from Bowling Green, Illinois, Maryland, Missouri, Temple, Texas Tech, Toledo and West Virginia.
