Mark Wilson (6'3/220) of Phoebus High School in Virginia had a slew of offers to
choose from including NC State, Syracuse, Illinois, Temple and more, but he
committed to the Cincinnati Bearcats earlier today.
"I committed to Cincinnati," said Wilson from his home in Hampton, Va.
"Coach [Robert] Prunty was recruiting me, and he was my favorite coach, in fact, my
favorite person that I've met in this recruiting process. They laid out a
detailed plan for how I'm going to fit into their defensive scheme and showed me
film of previous guys who I can be like. They're a veteran staff so I feel like
they know what they're doing."
Prunty dipped into his old stomping grounds to pick up a commitment from Wilson.
The long time Hargrave Military Academy Coach developed ties that reach clear
across the state including the 200 miles from Hargrave to Hampton.
Wilson posted 23 sacks for Phoebus last year and will run track this Spring.
Wilson previously took official visits to NC State and Old Dominion and will not
take his scheduled visit to Temple this weekend.
"I'm done," said Wilson. "I've called all the coaches at other
schools and thanked them for recruiting me."
